The ECS is in the AUTO position and the remote initiate contacts (IC) close.
The ECS is in the AUTO position and a start command is sent by the optional Customer Communiion Module (CCM).
The GSC+ checks the system before beginning the cranking sequence. The GSC+ checks that no system faults are present. The GSC+ checks that all previous shutdown faults have been reset. Note that shutdown faults are removed by turning the ECS to OFF/RESETposition. The GSC+ also checks that the engine is not already running. If the engine is equipped with prelube, the GSC+ checks the status of the prelube. If the prelube is not complete, the GSC+ will not crank the engine.
The GSC+ starts the crank sequence.
On MUI engines, the GSC+ activates the starting motor relay (SMR) and the run relay (RR).
On PEEC engines, the GSC+ activates the starting motor relay (SMR) and the run relay (RR). Once activated, the run relay (RR), removes the shutdown signal from the PEEC.
On EUI engines, the GSC+ activates the starting motor relay (SMR), the run relay (RR) and the electronic governor relay (EGR).
The GSC+ activates the fuel control relay (FCR).
The GSC+ cycle cranks the engine until the cycle crank time reaches the setpoint (P017) for total crank time or until the engine starts. The factory default of the setpoint (P017) is 10 seconds of crank time and 10 seconds of rest time.
While the starting motor is cranking, the GSC+ shows the status of the relays on the relay status indiors of the lower display.
ETR fuel systems: K4 (SMR), K5 (RR), K7 (FCR)
ETS fuel systems: K4 (SMR), K5 (RR)
On EUI engines, K1 (EGR) is also shown
The GSC+ deactivates the starting motor relay (SMR) and the GSC+ activates the crank termination relay (CTR) when the engine speed reaches the setpoint P011 for crank terminate speed. The factory default of setpoint P011 is 400
